Although we are famous for skiing in winter, there’s a lot of things happening in the valley over the summer months too.
Check them out. Walking, climbing, via ferrata, cycling, mountain bikes and many more. Don’t forget the white water sports on the River Guisane and Durance either.
The lifts begin opening from 30th June until the 2nd September. See the Tourist Office for more details on dates and opening times.
Less strenuous pursuits are available. Walk in the flower-filled meadows to rustic restaurants in 17th century villages, visit the walled Vauban town of Briancon and visit the Medieval festival or Bastille day re-enactments.
Bars and Restaurants
If these have whetted your appetite, please contact us for current availability at Chalet Chamoissiere during July.
It was announced yesterday that the Hautes-Alpes is right back on the cycling map and will feature in 3 stages of the Tour de France 2017. There will be a great atmosphere in Serre Chevalier with Stage 17 finishing in Serre Chevalier on July 19th, and stage 18 starting from Briancon on July 20th with a tough finish at the top of the Col d’Izoard.
Finally Embrun will see the start of Stage 19. It will be here that the Yellow Jersey will be confirmed. Why not come and join in the party? We’re just a short walk from the main road to watch the end stages of the race on 18th, or head along the village paths to Villenevue and witness the finish itself. Maybe you would like to emulate the cyclists? The amateur Tour stage the Etape, will be starting from Briancon on Sunday July 16th.
We’ve a beautiful apartment at the bottom of the Col du Lauteret just waiting for you. Double bedroom, sunny terrace, and a walk or cycle ride to watch the racing. Get in touch for more details, and see our availability page at http://www.chamoissiere.co.uk/availability for prices and current vacancies.
With the ski season drawing to a close, spring has arrived. Why not enjoy a weekend or longer stay in the mountains and enjoy the clear air and lengthening days?
The melting snow gives great white water for kayaking and rafting. Days are cooler than in midsummer for walking.
The pool and sauna will be open at weekends and French public holidays, then daily from mid-June.
