Some questions answered

Many of you ask about transfers, transport and what to bring. I hope these FAQ’s will answer these.

What airport should I fly to?
The nearest airport to Serre Chevalier is Turin,(about 1.5 hours) but you can also get from Grenoble (2 hours). Lyon(2.5 hours) Geneva (3.5 hours) and Marseille (3.5 hours)

We are driving, which ferry company should we use? SeaFrance travel from Dover to Calais regularly throughout the day, and the food on board is good. .

Can you recommend a car hire company? give about a 15% discount.

What about coach or minibus transfers from the airports?
Transfers to Serre Chevalier can be arranged with ATS ( or a local company Alpine Transfers ( There is a twice daily coach service from Grenoble railway station ( and a bus service from Lyon airport

Can you provide us with a route guide to the apartment?
Yes, just email us your airport details, and we will do our best.

Where can I arrange ski lessons?
Skiers should contact Melanie or Gavin via . They will also assist boarders with lessons using the International school in the village.

Where can I hire skis or snowboards?There are several shops in the village and a 20% discount for all guests at Aoraki at the foot of the pistes (details provided in arrival instructions).

Where do I buy a ski pass? Ski passes can be bought at the office at the foot of the pistes, a photo is needed for a pass of 3 days or more. You can also buy them online at . A family pass is available.

Is there a supermarket in the village? There is a well stocked Sherpa in the village, with a butchery, bakers and greengrocery sections, as well as a butcher, and several bakers and patissieres in the village. There are large supermarkets, fishmongers etc in Briancon.

What about restaurants? There are several good restaurants in the village, there are some recommendations on our website at

Can we arrange some shopping for our arrival day?. This can be arranged directly with our apartment manager Melanie who can purchase a few basic items for your arrival. There should already be teabags, fresh coffee, sugar, loo roll, kitchen towel, basic cleaning materials, foil, herbs, spices and condiments in the apartment . Any shopping is payable direct to our management on arrival in resort.

Can we arrange a pre-prepared meal for arrival night?. We are currently seeking further information on this.

Things to bring.

* Towels to use in the pool and sauna.

* Slippers/flip flops to use in the apartment, and to go to the pool and ski room. (In winter you will need to wear outdoor shoes to walk to the pool, especially if it has been snowing). We would prefer you not to wear outdoor footwear in the apartment.
* Sunblock and lip balm. Even in winter the sun is very strong and can burn. Piz Buin Mountain Cream is good for the face, and also stops chapping from cold winds.

If there is anything you are not sure about, please ask before overloading your suitcase.
