Over the past few months we have contacted agents, and our new friends in Serre Che have even viewed a couple of apartments for us. There seems to be a couple of places worth visiting, so we book into a Chambres d’Hotes in Chantemerle for a week, and travel down by car, stopping off for good food and wine tasting on the way. I have a few appointments made with agents, and we agree to spend some timeenjoying our holiday too. We go rafting and mountain biking, then in the late afternoon, go visiting properties in the area. We saw three apartments in Les Melezes, but they were awful, really out of date, and in need of repair. An agent in Briancon told us about a new development close to the ski lifts in Monetier. I had received the details for these a few weeks earlier, but the larger apartments were too expensive, and the smaller ones were only studios, so I had thrown the details away. After a days deliberation, we decide that this is the one we should buy. We are promised high quality kitchens, bathrooms, and flooring. It sounds gorgeous, with a swimming pool heated by the local hot springs too. We reserve the ground floor, 1 bedroom apartment, and go home really excited, and ready to start sorting out the money etc.
